A solution to shipping batteries

Boeing has recently warned airlines about the danger of shipping batteries. Ventura Aerospace and its customer FedEx have known about the risks in transporting batteries for years. This is why FedEx chose to work with Ventura Aerospace and Ansul in developing an effective system to deal with the threat of energetic battery fires.

The Ventura Aerospace main deck fire suppression system used on FedEx MD-11 and 777F aircraft has been addressing this problem for nearly six years. See the results of our testing here.

Aircraft Technical Service

In 1956 Floyd Snow founds Aircraft Technical Service to provide design engineering services for the growing aviation industry in Southern California.

A dream takes flight

In July of 1930, Floyd Snow flew his self built monoplane for the first time in Panaca, Nevada. This aircraft featured a 50 HP Gnome Rotary Engine as its powerplant. Construction was simple metal and wood with doped canvas. Aviation resources were limited in Panaca in the 1930’s requiring Floyd to be creative with his manufacturing techniques and limited supplies. Unfortunately the aircraft only saw one flight as it was damaged during a taxi run; however this experience validated Floyd’s entry into aviation. He soon moved to Southern California to begin his journey in the booming prewar aviation industry.

The first generation of FAA DERs

On February 1, 1955 Floyd Snow was designated by the Civil Aeronautics Administration to act as a Designated Engineering Representative. Floyd’s certificate number was LA-26.
